How do I set an organization's identity in Yoast SEO?

The Citead team, updated

In short. Select Organization under Yoast SEO > Settings > Site representation, enter the organization name and logo, add relevant profiles and save changes.

Definition: An organization's identity in Yoast SEO is the name, logo and associated profiles entered under Site representation. Choosing Organization tells the plugin which entity the website represents and supplies information for structured data, the machine-readable descriptions added to the site's code.

Key facts

  • As of October 2026, Yoast's schema implementation guide identifies Site representation as the setting for choosing between an organization and a person.
  • Yoast's Site representation documentation places this screen under Yoast SEO > Settings in WordPress and provides organization name, alternate name and logo settings.
  • Yoast's Organization specification lists the name, home URL and logo reference among the required properties of an Organization node, a record describing the organization.

Where are the organization name and logo entered?

In the WordPress administration area, the documented path is Yoast SEO > Settings > Site representation. The first choice is whether the website represents an organization or a person; that selection determines the remaining fields.

The Site representation guide explains that choosing Organization allows an organization name and an uploaded logo. The alternate organization name accommodates an acronym or a shorter name. Associated social profiles can also be entered; Add another profile accepts an additional profile URL. Save changes completes the edit.

Yoast's implementation guide treats this as configuration that requires no coding. It explains that the profile information associates those external profiles with the website.

What does Yoast put in the site's code?

Yoast's schema output documentation describes a connected graph: records linked by identifiers. Its example links the WebSite record to the organization through publisher. A site's identity settings therefore contribute to the description of the website's publisher.

The Organization specification describes logo as a reference to an ImageObject, the record for an image. It maps associated profiles to sameAs and an alternative name to alternateName. This is the specification's minimum example in JSON-LD, a structured data format:

{
  "@context": "https://schema.org",
  "@graph": [
    {
      "@type": "Organization",
      "@id": "https://www.example.com/#/schema/Organization/abc123",
      "url": "https://www.example.com/",
      "logo": {
        "@id": "https://www.example.com/uploads/example-image.jpg"
      },
      "name": "Example organization name"
    }
  ]
}

The example's domain and organization name are placeholders supplied by Yoast. The settings supply the actual site's identity values.

How can the identity output be checked?

A review of the published page's code can compare its Organization name, home URL and logo reference with the saved identity settings. Yoast's Organization specification says this record should appear on public pages and should be omitted if a required field is missing or invalid. This makes a missing logo or name a concrete item to investigate when the record is absent.

The same specification says references to an omitted Organization should also be removed. Yoast's schema output example provides the relationship to inspect: WebSite.publisher references the organization's @id.
