In short. A QAPage has one main Question, while a page presenting several FAQs belongs to the FAQPage model.
Definition: No. A
QAPagedescribes one specificQuestionand its answers. In Google Search structured data, thatQuestionis nested in the page'smainEntityproperty, with exactly oneQuestiondefinition expected on the page.
Key facts
- Google's QAPage documentation defines a Q&A page as one question followed by its answers.
- Google expects the
Questionfor the page under themainEntityproperty of theQAPageitem, with exactly oneQuestiontype on the page. - Google says not to use QAPage markup for FAQ pages or pages with multiple questions per page.
- Users must be able to submit answers to the question for QAPage markup to be appropriate.
- Schema.org describes QAPage as a
WebPagefocused on a specificQuestionand its answer or answers. - Schema.org describes FAQPage as a web page presenting one or more frequently asked questions.
What does the single mainEntity mean?
mainEntity identifies the primary entity described by a page. For a QAPage, Google's required-property table places the page's Question inside that property. The same documentation says exactly one Question is expected there and that only one Question type definition may appear per page.
The shape is therefore one page entity containing one question entity. Google's JSON-LD example uses the same nesting:
{
"@context": "https://schema.org",
"@type": "QAPage",
"mainEntity": {
"@type": "Question",
"name": "How many ounces are there in a pound?"
}
}
The Question represents the question that the page answers. Answers belong inside that Question, through properties such as acceptedAnswer and suggestedAnswer, rather than beside several sibling questions on the QAPage.
What page does QAPage markup describe?
Google's content guidance limits QAPage markup to a question and answer format made up of one question followed by its answers. It also requires users to be able to submit answers. The documentation gives a forum page and a product support page where users can answer a single question as valid use cases.
That rule concerns the page's content, not only the JSON-LD. A product page that lets users submit multiple questions and answers on one page appears in Google's invalid-use examples. A site-written FAQ with no way to submit alternative answers also appears there. Adding one QAPage object around several unrelated headings therefore leaves the markup inconsistent with the documented page format.
What should a page with several questions use?
Schema.org describes FAQPage as a WebPage presenting one or more frequently asked questions and points readers to QAPage as a related type. That definition matches a page whose purpose is to collect several FAQ entries. QAPage has the narrower single-question definition.
Choose the type that describes the actual page. Use QAPage when one question is the page's focus and users can submit answers. For several unrelated questions collected as an FAQ, review the FAQPage model and its current implementation guidance before adding markup. A page can contain ordinary question-shaped text without becoming a QAPage; the structured data describes the page's defined subject.
How can you check the markup?
Inspect the rendered page and its JSON-LD together. Confirm that the outer object has "@type": "QAPage", that mainEntity contains one Question, and that the visible page focuses on that same question. Then check whether users can submit answers, because Google's QAPage content guidance makes that capability part of the eligible format.
Google also says the full question text belongs in each Question and the full answer text belongs in each Answer. The answerCount property records the total number of answers, including answers beyond the subset marked up when pagination is used. These checks distinguish one question with many answers from several questions sharing one page.

FAQ
Can I put two unrelated Question objects in one QAPage?
No. Google's QAPage documentation expects exactly one Question type on the page under mainEntity, and says not to use QAPage markup where there are multiple questions per page.
Can a QAPage have several answers?
Yes. The single-question limit applies to the question represented by the page. That question can have its answers, including accepted or suggested answers, when the page supports user-submitted answers.
Is a site-written FAQ a QAPage?
Google lists a site-written FAQ with no way for users to submit alternative answers as an invalid QAPage use case. Schema.org defines FAQPage for a web page presenting one or more frequently asked questions.
