How do I export a filtered AI referral report from Plausible?

The Citead team, updated

In short. Use Plausible’s dashboard Export stats option after selecting the date range and AI channel or source filters.

Definition: A filtered AI referral report is a dashboard export restricted to an AI assistant channel or source. As of 17 October 2026, Plausible exports the selected date range and audience segment as a ZIP containing individual CSV reports.

Key facts

  • Plausible's traffic sources documentation defines the AI Assistants channel through recognized sources, including ChatGPT and Perplexity.
  • The filtering guide says active filter pills display their dimension, operator and selected values.
  • The export guide limits dashboard CSV files to 300 entries each, with 100 entries per page report.

How is the AI audience selected?

Plausible's channel documentation places AI Assistants in the Channels tab. Selecting a channel reveals its individual sources. The Sources tab also lists referral sources, including chatgpt.com; selecting an individual source segments the audience by that source.

The filtering guide defines a segment as one or more filters. A source filter can be combined with a country or goal filter. Its example combines a chosen source, a selected country and a completed goal, restricting the dashboard to traffic meeting those conditions.

The Filter button also allows multiple source values. Each filter pill can be edited, and changes apply immediately. The Page submenu separates Page, Entry page and Exit page dimensions.

How is the report downloaded?

Plausible's export instructions specify this sequence:

  1. The date selector at the dashboard's top right sets the reporting period.
  2. Dashboard filters define the audience; a goal filter adds the scope for specific conversion metrics.
  3. The top chart's options menu controls Include imported data, where applicable.
  4. Export stats in that menu downloads the selected view and segment.

The resulting ZIP contains CSV files for individual reports, usable in Excel or other analysis tools.

What scope does the downloaded report retain?

The export guide includes imported data when selected. For outbound link clicks, file downloads or 404 errors, it identifies these files:

custom_props.csv
conversions.csv

The former contains details such as URLs, visitors, events and conversion rates; the latter contains summaries. The separate Site Settings export covers all native data, excludes imports and cannot be segmented.

For repeat reports, the segment guide provides Save as segment beside the filter pills. Personal segments are visible only to their creator; site segments are visible to team members with dashboard access. Saved segments reopen through Filter, then Segment.

FAQ

Can I export several assistant sources together?

Yes. You can select multiple sources with the Filter button, then export the filtered dashboard.

Can I export after my subscription ends?

Plausible's export documentation requires an active trial or subscription for dashboard exports. You can still request the site-settings export before the dashboard and stats are deleted.
