Key facts

  • Plausible's channel definitions name ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot as examples of AI assistant sources.
  • Plausible's filter documentation states that clicking a referral source filters the dashboard to traffic from that source.
  • Plausible's page reports documentation describes an Entry Pages tab, whose expanded view includes visit duration for visits starting on each page.

Where is the source drilldown?

A channel is a group of traffic sources. Plausible's traffic sources documentation describes this report path:

Channels > AI Assistants > individual source

The Sources tab provides another route and includes chatgpt.com among its examples. The expand icon at the top right adds source metrics, including bounce rate and visit duration. Clicking a metric heading sorts the expanded report.

How does a source filter work?

Plausible's filtering guide explains that selected filters appear as pills at the top of the dashboard. Each pill shows the dimension, operator and selected values; edits take effect immediately.

The Filter button offers a Source dimension with searchable values and multiple selection. Source filters combine with country and goal filters. A goal is an action tracked as a conversion; the guide illustrates visitors from a selected source and country who complete a selected goal.

A segment is a saved collection of filters. The Save as segment option beside the pills saves the selection. Personal segments are visible to their creator; site segments are visible to team members with dashboard access. The Filter button's Segment menu opens saved segments.

Which pages receive those visits?

With a source filter active, the Entry Pages tab shows where the selected traffic starts. Plausible's page report guide explains that expanding this tab adds visit duration for visits beginning on each page.

Page reports group entries by path by default. The report's options menu contains a Break down by setting that switches from Path to URL. This separates pages sharing a path across different subdomains. Plausible also documents that query parameters are discarded from recorded page paths by default.
