Key facts
- As of 17 October 2026, HubSpot's sitemap documentation states that live website pages and blog posts are added automatically; landing pages require manual addition.
- HubSpot's page publishing guide requires Edit and Publish permission to edit and publish pages.
- Google's sitemap overview explains that search engines read sitemaps to crawl sites more efficiently.
Where is the page selected and saved?
HubSpot's sitemap instructions give this sequence. The settings icon in the top navigation bar opens account settings. From there, the route is Content > Domains & URLs > Sitemap.
The Domain dropdown selects the sitemap to edit. Clicking + Add a page opens a dialog with a page dropdown. Selecting the page and clicking Add adds the selection. Clicking Save takes the sitemap edits live.
How is the page itself published?
HubSpot's Create and customize pages documentation describes publication in the page editor. A domain must be connected to HubSpot for publishing; free tools include a HubSpot-branded domain ready for publication.
Website pages are under Content > Website Pages, while landing pages are under Content > Landing Pages. Some accounts show these routes beneath More. Opening the page by name and clicking Publish in the upper right publishes it immediately. Page publication and saving sitemap edits have separate controls.
How can the sitemap update be checked?
HubSpot's sitemap guide documents View XML file on the Sitemap tab. The sitemap also opens by appending this path to the website domain:
/sitemap.xml
Changes may take up to 30 minutes to appear.
Google's sitemap overview explains that internal navigation also helps Google reach pages: important pages should be reachable through menus or links on other pages. Checking those links complements checking the sitemap file. A sitemap entry alone does not ensure crawling or indexing.
