In short. SeznamBot is Seznam's search crawler, documented through its user-agent string, published IP addresses and robots.txt controls.
Definition: SeznamBot is Seznam's web crawler, a program that retrieves web content for its search engine. As of 17 October 2026, Seznam documents its request identifier, published IP addresses and reverse-DNS naming patterns for identifying crawler traffic.
Key facts
- Seznam's crawler help gives an HTTP
User-Agentstring containingSeznamBot/4.0for recognition in server access logs. - Seznam publishes a machine-readable IP list containing
ipv4Prefixandipv6Prefixfields for comparison with request source addresses. - Seznam's robots.txt documentation states that SeznamBot respects crawl restrictions and gives a rule targeting
SeznamBotby name. - Seznam's meta robots documentation states that the crawler ignores the HTTP
X-Robots-Tagheader.
How does SeznamBot identify itself?
An HTTP User-Agent header identifies the software making a request. Seznam's crawler help supplies this string for recognizing its crawler in an access log, the web server's record of requests:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; SeznamBot/4.0; +https://o-seznam.cz/napoveda/vyhledavani/en/seznambot-crawler/)
Seznam's 24 January 2014 announcement specifies an earlier identifier beginning with Mozilla/5.0 and containing SeznamBot/3.2. It explicitly retains the SeznamBot name within the longer string. For log analysis, the current help provides the reference identifier; the announcement explains why the crawler name appears inside a Mozilla-style header.
How can crawler requests be checked?
The request's source IP address can be compared with Seznam's published JSON list. Its prefixes array lists IPv4 addresses under ipv4Prefix and IPv6 addresses under ipv6Prefix. This provides a machine-readable reference for checking network origin alongside the header recorded in the log.
Seznam's crawler help also documents reverse DNS, which maps an IP address to a hostname through a PTR record. It says all used SeznamBot addresses should have such a record and gives this naming pattern:
fulltextrobot-77-75-77-xxx.seznam.cz
How is crawling controlled?
A robots.txt file tells crawlers which paths they may download. Seznam's robots.txt help places it in the website's root directory and gives this complete block for stopping SeznamBot downloads:
User-agent: SeznamBot
Disallow: /
For download frequency, Seznam's crawling-control help documents Request-rate, which sets a document count over a time interval. Its example of one hundred documents every fifteen minutes uses:
Request-rate: 100/15m
Indexing means including page content in the search index. Seznam's meta robots help documents noindex for excluding content from indexing and says to leave downloading allowed so the crawler can read the instruction in the page's HTML.

FAQ
Can I use X-Robots-Tag to control SeznamBot indexing?
Seznam's meta robots help says SeznamBot ignores that header. Use the documented HTML meta robots instruction and keep downloading allowed so the crawler can read it.
Where can I find addresses for checking requests?
Seznam links its JSON IP list from the crawler help. Compare the source address in your server log with its published prefixes.
