In short. Enable Advanced Mode, open the page’s Rank Math Advanced tab, select No Index under Robots Meta, save the page, and check the published directive.
Definition: A page-level
noindexsetting asks search engines that support the rule to exclude a single page from their index. As of 17 October 2026, Rank Math documents this control as No Index under the Advanced tab's Robots Meta settings, available in Advanced Mode.
Key facts
- Rank Math's Advanced tab documentation describes settings inside a post as local settings that apply to that post; Titles & Meta supplies global defaults.
- Rank Math's noindex guide requires Advanced Mode to expose the Advanced option in the individual editor.
- Google's noindex documentation requires the page to remain accessible to the crawler so it can read the rule.
How is Advanced Mode enabled?
Rank Math's mode-switching guide places the mode selector in the top-right corner of WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math SEO > Dashboard. Selecting Advanced Mode exposes settings hidden in Easy Mode. The setup wizard also offers a choice of mode.
If the Rank Math editing panel itself is missing, Rank Math's noindex troubleshooting guide points to Add SEO Controls under Rank Math SEO > Titles & Meta Settings > Pages. That setting controls access to the page's SEO panel.
How is No Index applied to one page?
Rank Math's noindex instructions describe the following editor workflow for individual posts and pages:
- Editing begins by opening the page in the WordPress editor. In the block editor, the Rank Math SEO icon at the top right opens the panel. In the Classic Editor, the Rank Math SEO settings appear below the content.
- The Advanced tab contains the Robots Meta controls.
- The change consists of selecting No Index, then saving or updating the page.
Rank Math's Advanced tab guide states that selecting No Index automatically disables Index. These are mutually exclusive choices in the interface.
The same guide explains that settings inside the editor apply to the current post. For an individual page, the change belongs in that page's panel; the Titles & Meta settings supply defaults across content.
How is the published result checked?
Google's implementation guide gives this HTML example for the page's <head> section:
<meta name="robots" content="noindex">
This illustrates the directive to look for in the published HTML. Google recommends the URL Inspection tool in Search Console to inspect the HTML received by Googlebot and verify that the rule is visible.
A robots.txt file controls crawler access. Google requires access to the page to process its noindex rule. If the URL still appears in results after the setting changes, the same documentation explains that Google may still need to crawl the updated page. URL Inspection also provides a way to request a recrawl.

FAQ
Why is the Advanced tab missing?
Check the mode selector in Rank Math SEO > Dashboard. Rank Math's noindex guide says you need Advanced Mode to see this option in the individual editor.
Does No Index also stop link following?
Google's noindex guide treats nofollow as a separate hint that can be combined with noindex. You can check the page's robots directives separately for indexing and link following.
